Mine goes waaaaay back... back when I was into snowcross and motocross. XC for the sled, and YZ for the bike. I've been using this name for as long as I've been on the internet.
Spiffav8
12-20-2007, 10:02 PM
Calvin & Hobbes a comic strip written and illustrated by Bill Watterson is my all time favorite. Calvin went on many adventures as different characters, one being Space Man Spiff...my favorite of the lot. Being a pilot I had AV8 on my license plate a few years back and it just kind of stuck. Combine the two and you've got it. It was that or Lucky13.

fakesnake.com
12-20-2007, 10:21 PM
I used to have a tricked out late model mustang that I converted into a Cobra mustang. A magazine editor coined it a "fakesnake" and the name stuck plus I set up a web page for my cars and later added the .com. Just a hobby (expensive one).

chicane
12-21-2007, 02:18 AM
Chicane (the not so obvious) = A Wolf in sheeps clothing
Chicane (the obvious) = (1) Deception, chicanery. (2) To resort to tricks or subterfuges. (3) A movable barrier used in motor racing; sometimes placed before a dangerous corner to reduce speed as cars pass in single file.
Originally, my screen name was "chicane67"... meaning the 1967 Camaro in sheeps clothing. The conceptual sleeper. A race car in street trim. Ect, ect... but the twisty additive to a race track also had its meaning as well.

CCRACIN is compressed for C & C Racing. This was the name of my Dad's and my race team. When I started with e-mail etc. there were limits to not using symbols and more than 6 characters with the IP I was using. So since then it just stuck. The C & C is my name Chad and my dad's nickname Chops in any order.
Mine isn't much of a mystery but Jay is what my friends call me and R is my last initial.
Garage Dog 65
12-21-2007, 11:15 AM
Garage Dog - picked it up after talking to Smokey Yunick at Indy one year while I was in high school (you might know the story about his beloved hounds). I had noticed that every hot rod, race shop, body shop, fab shop and garage that I went to had 1 or several dogs that were always there hanging around, checking out what was going on and always had a great attitude - no matter how bad the project was going. I also really enjoy going to different shops and garages to meet people and see what they are doing - and I'm always amazed at how open, friendly and helpful everyone is, and how close knit of a community there is in this industry/sport/hobby. I've always been the most comfortable in a shop or garage environment and greatly enjoy the time spent there. (especially with Heat, TV and a Fridge !)
65 is just because someone had the base name -- so I threw 65 on the end for my 65 Porsche 356G project.
Lat-G is like a virtual garage to me with a bunch of really cool builds, cars and great people. It's very comfortable here !! Jim
camcojb
12-21-2007, 11:26 AM
I always wondered.
So what does camco do?
Common Area Maintenance COmpany. I do parking lot and building lighting maintenace, parking lot sweeping, pressure washing, and thousands of misc. repairs from graffiti removal to changing ceiling tiles for commercial shopping centers. Since the charges are billed back to the tenants as CAM (common area maintenance) charges, that seemed like a good name for my company.

JSR is the acronym for our racing team we had prior to buying the Camaro. I wanted my wife to be part of it so she got first billing. Janie/Steve Racing.
69 is the year of my all time favorite car, 69 Camaro. Also happens to be what I'm working on now.

It is my name.
marolf101x
12-21-2007, 02:15 PM
Marolf is my last name.
101x came from Charlie Swartz (http://www.swartzracecars.com/), a dirt late model racer when I was growing up. He was normally #1, then he semi-retired. When he came back he had 101x on the car and when asked why he responded, "cause it's all the numbers I had in the shop, and I think this is my last one. So if I use all the numbers I can't build another car!"
Here's a couple of links to some pretty cool "wedge" cars from the early 80's:

Speedster
12-21-2007, 04:57 PM
Speedster - from the years of high speed boat racing which kind of started when we purchased one of the original twin engine Sea Doo Speedsters back in 1994. (By accident we were at the dock when the Sea Doo guys went out testing prototype #1 down here in Florida)

12-21-2007, 05:35 PM
Final Cut- taken from Pink Floyd's last album. I used to own a shop called Street Works, we built a number of cars there, some of them you may have seen, most of them you probaly have not. The Fairlane I took back to Columbus was the last one. I have sold the shop and all of the tools.......Final Cut.

DDY RCKT
12-21-2007, 07:27 PM
DDY RCKT is a license plate friendly version of Daddy Rocket.
It's a long story, get some coke...
Ok, not really. A couple three years ago I started in helping do FEA and CFD development for performance aftermarket parts for MINI's, and got hooked up with a shop called DDM Works. One day I called the head man in charge, Dave, and when he picked up the phone he said "What's up, Daddy Rocket?" completely out of the blue. It stuck, and that's my shop name now.
SpeedyV10
12-21-2007, 07:28 PM
Speedy was a nickname my friends had given to me years ago when I had quite a collection of speeding tickets. I was driving a V10 Dodge truck when started participating in message boards, so SpeedyV10 was the name I first signed on with.
The name once again fit a little better last year when I co-owned a Viper with a friend of mine.

ntchbl67 = untouchable 67
I used to go watch the races at "Yellow Belly Dragstrip" located in Dallas, Texas. A guy that paintbrushed t-shirts was always there on the weekend. So one day I go and ask him if he would air brush my car(67 camaro) on a t-shirt. He accepted so he asked for my name and to come back half an hour later. I see the t-shirt and it said my name on the front with my car on the back and "Untouchable 67" written on top of the car. Long story but I loved it!!LOL It sticked since then..........12 years ago!!!!

zerotofear
12-22-2007, 12:06 PM
I started building race cars when I was about 12 when my dad drug home a 56 chevy to build for a circle track car. The second car we built started a trend to build light weight, simple cars, that concentrated on handling performance. A local GM warehouse manager built a 61 chevy with a L88 427, a car we outran on a regular basis, after wearing him out one saturday night, with our dead stock LT1, he said if I had your car and my motor zero to fear would be instant. In my 35 years of racing I have exprienced the term many times. When we started build cars , customers hung the name on the components we designed and built.

Kokamo
12-25-2007, 08:32 PM
I'll try to make this as short as I can.......
One day when I was about 10-ish years old, I was over at my friends house. His dad was drunk and was singing to himself which he always did. I walked into the room and he just blurted out a new tune he just came up with. Since my name is Joe.....it went somthing like this.........
"Yeah, ole Kokamo Joe was a good ole soul......he had a buckskin belly and a rubber a$$hole"
Then ever since then, I've been called "Kokamo" by all my buds.
It even became my CB handle back in the day.
So ever since the day of the drunk, it has just stuck.

12-26-2007, 01:42 PM
Budweasel = alter ego of a couple of years ago when I was on strike for a Budweiser distributorship in St. Louis. It was a small cartoon character that was on our "corporate campaign" paraphernalia. I was pretty hurt by the whole thing. I was a total company man then lost my job and my $20+K pension, (80 some hours from vesting). Might have harbored a little resentment over that one. Now I run the flatwork side of a concrete company, so not much pertinence now.

Some may know what my screen name means...others may not, so here goes:
My name "XPLANTDAD" translates literally to "transplant dad" a name I conjured up in the early days of AOL...where you were limited to a certain amount of letters and characters for your screen name.
My daughter Holly is a heart transplant (she was transplanted in 1990 at the age of 5 1/2 months) and she is doing well. Here are a few pics of her:
Holly with Carroll Shelby at Barrett Jackson last year (He had his heart transplant 3 months after Holly)

Well mine is pretty self explanatory, but it all started back in 97 when i bought a 1992 S10 reg cab with a 2.8 5 speed and had plans to yank it out and drop in a 1992 F-body 5.7 TPI engine and an f-body T5 5 speed, but was moving to houston to go to school, and decided to leave the 2.8 in there so the truck was more reliable, and sold the TPI and 5 speed. I then started doing some small bolt on mods for more power, then did headers, exhaust, i mena all the bolt ons they sell and the truck was pretty quick out of the hole, i dynoed it once and it made 105 HP and 170 TQ to the wheels from a internally stock 2.8 V6 TBI. I used to race a freinds hopped up early 90's rustang, and i could always pull him thru the intersection, then it was over, but it was fun and the name just kinda stuck, and i use it on all the forums, and email.

"You should have gotten a '55 or '57, they are cooler", "You should have gotten a 2dr", "You should have bought something newer", and so on and so forth. Then I ran across this qoute - "If I were not Diogenes, I should like to be Diogenes." paraphrased from Churchill. Which in turn became ,"If I did not have a '56, I should like to have a '56" and spawned the Diognes56 username. I use it everywhere  , and get a kick out of being able to google it  .

Beach Cruiser, sorta self explanitory, I used to Cruise up and down Atlantic Ave in Va Beach in my Camaro in the early 80's before they outlawed it. Now that I've moved back to the Beach, and I am rebuilding my car, Project Beach Crusier just seems apporpriate. I also have a Nirve Brand Beach Cruiser Bike, complete with RS Logo's, Rally Stripes and Red line tires! Our local AutoCross club actually races on the Beach! I own a 1980 Z28 which is black. I'm dutch and we pronounce the letter Z as Zed, pretty much like the canadians do. Therefor Blkzed28, i guess i'm forced to keep the car black, which i prefer anyway, lol.

Back in 69 I was riding my old bicycle home from a Little League night game. Rode right past the local hot rod hang out on the way home. A guy with a 68 or 69 Nova and his girlfriend called me over and he took my bike and went off riding wheelies and sliding the rear tire all over the place while I waited with his girl. I told her I liked the Nova. Well he gave me my bike back and they jumped in the car and pulled out on the street, then did a big burnout and I can remember to this day the girl leaning out the window, laughing and waving the peace sign at me and yelling, "Nova power ".

I was a longtime Honda mechanic that has a knack for fixing the "cant be fixed" problems. Everyone that knows me calls me the "Honda god".
When I joined the 20th century and got online my brother (the computer geek in the family) set up my email but "hondagod" was taken.
He put a "D" in front of it and "Dhondagod" was born. Its the only screen name Ive ever used and Im on alot of other forums, and like this one I search, read and lurk...
Currently building a 69 Camaro, 70 Toy FJ40 landcruiser, 78 Dodge 4wd Cummins conversion morphidite truck (sons) and a frame off 2000 Chev Silverado P/U...
When I have progress made on the 69 Ill start a build thread here. :lateral:

Mine's reference to my CA plates, "WHY TRY", when I was younger I had the car all set up for street/drag racing..... It was one of the plate ideas I was tossing around and when I got the plates it stuck... Camaro used to be a SBC, solid flat tappet, AT big stall, and NOS Big Shot, put then the PT bug bit me and everything changed.... :)

Mine is just a name I remember for my 84 Z28 that was fast at the time (an 11 second car). In 91 there weren't alot of fast Z's. So when I built mine it was kinda special for a while. Then everything else caught up. My vanity plate was FASTERZ. What's really cool is when a younger kid comes up to you and tells you yea I remember your car it was what made me build mine. That still sticks with me. It's funny how we all remember a certain car. I can still remember this guy Salami's car. He had a 1970 primer gray RS Camaro (that stayed that way for years and I mean years). He was big street racer and he would win money all the time. He'd spray the bejeusus out of it. A few times we seen it break spectacularly. Whenever I see a primer gray 70 Camaro with Bowtie in the back window I wonder if it's that car.

mine means what it says.... 10 second et. however, its not in reference to my (or any) car. its from a stoopid fast 1993 Yamaha FZR1000 i used to have. that was easily a 9 second ride but i had a hard enough time keeping the front wheel on the ground in the 10s. i lost it because of my divorce/bankruptcy about 8 years ago. my next bike, i bought on ebay and that was the first sn i thought of when i signed up.

Mine means 68 year of my Camaro, Tin can is what I am calling it because I am selling scrap metal to pay for it. I manage an automotive shop and have several rental properties. You would not believe the amount of trash I get from renters when they move out!

It’s a play on my last name which is Benoit.
When I got married we put up a banner that read “Benoit’s Ball” just for laughs & to see if anyone would get it.
I dream of owning a Hot Rod shop & after my wedding banner I thought it would be cool to name my shop (if I ever get one) “Benoit’s Ballin Rods”
