lol.. yea.. I wrote that stuff yesterday afternoon when I had the bright idea to run the story online BEFORE it comes out in the magazine. It was sort of hard to coordinate since it couldn't go online until midnight.
I figured it would be old news in a couple of months (at least to internet people).. might as well get it out there asap. :)
I will fix it.. or have the web guys fix it..

Steve,
Are they claiming these numbers as rear wheel power?

Steve,
Are they claiming these numbers as rear wheel power?
No.. engine numbers with all accesories and such.
Although I've head that the early dyno tests were putting 600 to the wheels, so they detuned it :)

Steve,
seems how you have the inside scoop on all the cool stuff. did they mention wether or not the ls9 will be offered as a crate engine? if so that would be:woot:

They didn't know/couldn't say.. but that was the same response about the LS7 years ago and that became a crate engine.
I bet this on would be $20k if it was a crate offering.

Yea, I got a feeling it was a rotocast version of the LS3 head.. with the exotic valving.
It's on my list of follow up questions.
This is from the GM press release. Incredible!
The LS9 won't be getting its final certification until about March, but so far GM has put over 6,800 dyno hours on the new engine. They have run an engine for 100 hours continuously at wide open throttle and done both simulated and real 24-hour track cycles similar to what the GT1 C6.Rs run on the dyno and in the car. Thanks to the extensive simulation and modeling done prior to building any parts, the engines have been remarkably reliable. To date, through three years of development, they have never had a failed piston, connecting rod or crankshaft in testing. The simulations have gotten so accurate that the first prototype engine on the dynamometer ran within 3.5% of the simulation throughout the entire power and torque curve.

What I'd like to know is - - if they have been working on this motor for 3 years, what super humans are working the project who wouldn't have spilled the beans a long time ago ?? If I was working on a monster like that - I'd be splitting at the seams dying to tell people about how bad-ass their new motor is going to be.
(Guess that's why I don't work there - or in Military Intelligence ....)
BUT I DO want those guys working for Military Intelligence - no one keeps a better secret !!!!!
Water board - is that all you got - no problem....

the see-thru hood/carbon fiber shown roof are ghetto/ricer, but the skull with logo eyes on the airbox is cool :unibrow: :D Altogether as a package tho', my race car will go up for sale if those are offered in a quantity that doesn't cause dealers to add huge bogus fees to the price...

You're nuts in regards to the roof.. in regards to the hood you might have a point :)

I thought GM came out with the Beehive springs and then the aftermarket guys copied them.
