I have a stock length 10 bolt and want to put 19x11 wheels on the rear. Right now I have drums, but will convert over to disc. I want to put a deep dish wheel. Something like a 6" lip.... Will I need to cut and narrow the rear end? Will I gain more clearance / backspacing going from a drum to disc?
Yes, you will need to have the rear end narrowed to get that type backspacing on a wheel like that. You will also need to mini-tub it as an 11" wheel will run a 315 tire.
I don't recall the difference between the rotor hat thickness and the drum when I did that conversion. I seem to recall it was an extra .100" or there abouts. Of course, different rotors will have different thicknesses in the hat.
