Sad day... may not be the place to post, but a guy who did it all and lived to tell it... I remember when I was a kid the Evel Knievel stunt bike toy by ideal..(can't remember the exact name of it but us kids in the mid 70's crank turn and watch the wheelie and jumps go)...:D

One thing that was neat in my opinion was that Evel spoke at the Crystal Cathedral about a year ago and became a Christian. It was interesting to hear how he had such an abusive life with his body and was even alive, then the experiences he had that should have killed him many times over.

sorry for the rant, but in the 70's it was really neat as a kid watching the daredevil "Evel Knievel" fly though the air even when he knew it was going to hurt.... Memories....

He was one of a kind. He was a nut in and out of the limelight.

That's sad. I can remember him in my most distant childhood memories. I even had a plastic model kit of him and his bike that I got for my birthday when I was seven or so, mid '70s.

Yes, that guy had some stones.

The ideal EK stunt bike was one of my all-time favorite toys. I actually bought one just a couple years ago, just so I could re-live my childhood.

I remember one time I had spooled that thing up to some ungodly RPM, and it took off but quickly fell over on it's side and stopped, rear wheel still turning incredibly fast...my cousin Karen, who had long hair, ran and picked it up, it grabbed hold of her hair and made a beeline to her skull in an instant..."ZZZZIIIIK!!!"

...My aunt had to cut a big patch of hair out....

Good times....
