Seems like we just got back from a very successful debut of "Joker" at this years SEMA event, and we were already loading the car back into the trailer to head out to Scottsdale for the 2007 Goodguys Southwest Nationals.

We arrived mid day Friday to register and park and it gave us an opportunity to drive the car around the show a bit. Lots of nice cars, a total of over 3500 cars there for the event.

Saturday morning we got in early, and parked the car over by the Muscle Car section, when Ed Capen came over from Goodguys, and after commending us for a job well done, suggested a better spot for us would be over in the Boyd's Pro Pick section. We of course took his advice and moved.

Later that day, they came around and awarded us the "Low, Smooth, and Cool" award sponsored by Air Ride Technologies. We were stoked. The cars first pro's pick. Happy as clams we cruised the show and checked out some of the nice cars that had showed up Saturday morning. What happend next was very unexpected.

We heard over the loud speaker that Boyd had cruised the picks and that there was a list posted at the Goodguys main tent of the top ten. We thought, well hell, might as well check and see who got 'em. Jason was the first to check the list:

That's us, entry number 1939, Steve Post, 67 Chevy. I didn't believe it when Jason turned around to high five Steve and I. I had to look again. Yup, that's us... we couldn't help but celebrate. Months of hard work, just felt a little more worth it.

Sunday we were all smiles. We were congratulated by many, Boyd, shook Steve's hand and said "very nice car". But the best part was when we were asked if we were taking the car to Columbus next year. We had answered that we were maybe planning on it. We were then told that really is the right arena for the car. So, I guess we're Ohio bound in July!

We're really happy that people like the car. Green is a hard color to pull off, but I think Joker came together well, and is a good representation of our style.

Here are some photos from the event:

I've got to get some photos of the underside of the car. I'll try and post those later this week.

Thank you everyone. We are all very happy here at the shop. It's always very flattering to be recognized. Steve and I put in very many long nights here at the shop before SEMA, and we can't be happier with the overall look of the car.

Jon,
Congratulatons.
From the pics I have seen of the car, the awards and attention is well deserved.
I am not usually drawn to Green cars but your car really POPS!
It is nice to see someone go out on a limb with something different and make it work:)

LOL! Not to mention the Rushforth design! Thanks Bill!

Way to represent the new wheel line, guys! Between having the car in SEMA and a Top 10 2 weeks later, you're off to a great start! We're going to have a great time in Columbus!

Well done! Thanks for making the wheels look so good!

For those of you who saw the car at SEMA, indoor lighting does not do the paint justice, it seriously pops in the sun!
Congratulations to Driverz and Rushforth wheels (and Rushforth design)!

Congrats! Really love the stance of the car, not really feeling the colours but that's personal taste.

Man were they upset, but they are old customer's of mine and Jason Jeffrey's (that car debuted in the Budnik booth at last year's AZ show). That car, while still very nice, had stock arms, stock 10 bolt rear, and just came up short in some very important areas. They were happy for us though, and congratulated us several times. They even took photos for us while driving through the winners circle. They took a great, and funny for SO many reasons, photo of Boyd leaning in and handing the award to Steve.
They really liked the finish of the wheels on our car, they liked it so much that on their next project (a cadillac) they are sending all of their trim pieces to us for the same treatment, along with running some future Rushforth Wheels!

Thanks again for all the compliments everyone. Like Tim from Chassiworks said, the car does really look much better in the sun, then under the lights... the color pops a whole lot more. Thanks for noticing Tim!

Congrats, was'nt your car the only late muscle entry he chose?

I know my chances were over first thing when I pissed off one of Boyds goons. He parked that blue and creme ford at the end of my isle and I did'nt notice him, just asked the driver if he could pull over little and the next thing I know I'm in the middle of a "American HotRod" episode! The Goodguys staff had moved onto parking other cars down another isle. I guess they wanted that car to have better exposure, obviously it was a Boyd Pick!

The amazing thing is how fast he goes through what seemed like 60-70 cars and picks 10. There was really a nice selection of quality cars this year and plenty to check out, next thing I look up and he's back at his canopy shaking hands. When I was at Del Mar I did'nt even see him on Saturday, someone else must have made his selection and they were all "rods".

I wish GoodGuys had another respected builder on the west coast that would do the Pro picks, like the guys getting involved on the east coast, just had enough of Boyd!

Your car would of been picked by any Pro-builder, for sure. I really liked the engine compartment with the fuel injection setup.

With the amount of cars there, and really nice cars at that, you should be proud!
