Hey guys,
Just thought I introduce my other ride, a 1980 TA fully restored
stock WS6 w/global west poly sway front/rear, body mounts, etc
80s era turbo slotted rims w/old school BFG TA 255/60/15s
Color Custom Sunset Orange Metallic Base/Clear
Phoenix Graphix One-piece screaming chicken decals
Mild 350SBC/T350Auto
Restored Camel Tan Int, Autometer gauges, Infinity sound
Upcoming mods include Hotchkis 2 inch drop
Global west tubular frame connectors
Question/Opinions: should I change the rim/tire combo? I was thinking something like the
BRE trans am billet snowflakes. Anyone seen these in person?
I think the 18X9s will fit w/out mini-tubs...
Cheers - Ron

Although your car looks really nice as it sits, the BRE snowflakes would look killer on that t/a!!!! Go for it!!!

I'd P/T it. I love the Year One Bandit and am looking for a '77 T-top car now.
Keep 15s or buy 18s???? I think it answers itself. Fire up the credit card ASAP! Even though you've seen the wheels on other T/As, it will blow your mind when you bolt them on your own. Can't wait to see the results!

This is just a thought, and I dunno how everyone else would feel about it, but what about a set of 18 inch turbo wheels, like these:

If you had them refinished in that bronze/gold color I think it would look super cool... and maybe minitub your car too

It's a german company, so the site may be hard to navigate... I DO know that "felgen" means wheel or rims or something though.

If your a car collector or love the original design you'd probably disregarded this overall forum and not have asked the question. No one is buying new cars and saying .. gee I think its perfect no upgrades needed (if they are its because they don't have money or don't know better). Technology and manufacturing methods have continued to evolve .. they probably would have put bigger rims and better brakes on if they could (after all look at the cars GM, Ford, Dodge put out today .. they started shifting to larger wheels etc nearly 20 years ago. I think most would agree that 17-18s are a natural fit to most models and makes. Any bigger often you have to do more design/fabrication to ensure the right overall aesthetics – (i.e. you have know what your doing to make it look right). I think your on the right track trying to keep the sprit of the design on such a classic (post above is a super idea!). You’ll note that people are even taking hub cap looks and re-making them out of solid billet.

You are on to my thoughts exactly. I actually sought out the turbo slotted rims for this restoration. I didn't even consider changing this combo until I saw the BRE snowflakes. I thought changing out to bigger rims would loose the original look and feel of what I was going for... a period look with some modern upgrades... A lot of guys on this site are after the same effect. But seeing the BRE rims is making me reconsider. Thanks for your comments.

Those 18" turbo wheels are cool, but since the trubo TA wheels are not as reconizable as the Snowflakes, I would lean towards snowflakes myself, but my opinion my be slanted a little

The snowflakes would look great no doubt but there are a lot of late 2d gen ponchos starting to use them. I would stay with the multi-spoke design but I would lean towards the Boze pro-touring wheels in 18" just to be a bit different.
I'm not one to talk though as I went with Coy c5s on my 81Z because I like the looks of TT CL205s which look very similar.
Either way the snowflake/pro-touring/mesh type wheels look bitchen on firebirds and T/As.
