Now that SEMA is over, we headed back home and debuted Dan McDonalds 1969 Mustang Conv. at the Fun Fords Weekend in Englishtown NJ.
The car showed very well. Fortunetly we parked next to a bone stock (very nicely restored I may add) 69 Conv. Crowds gathered after they noticed all the body mods thatmade this so unique. All in all we had a great time and it is was a great place to show a "Ford" for the first time. I was very proud of my guys for a great job on our first "Ford".

Awesome Car!

I may have missed it, but what are the specs on the car. It looks like a blown windsor motor w/ auto? What suspension setup did you used front and rear?

Again - Looks Sweet!

That car is just awesome. Your rear quarter treatment changes the looks of that car for the better in a huge way. Ford missed what you fixed. Thumbs way way up.

Lenie... I sent a color sample to Classic Instruments. They color matched a set of their "Silver Series" gauges and custom made the 5" tach and Speedo because that series only comes in 3-3/8". Very nice company to work with.

Steve,
I can't get enough of this car!

Can you please post a side profile shot of her?

I found a thread on another Mustang site with a pic of this car @ a car show so, I couldn't resist posting some of the pics off this thread, I hope you don't mind.

No problem, thank you for the side profile!

Are you touring this car next year?
If so, will you be hitting any big shows in or near Texas?
I’d love to see it in person.

The owner really enjoys driving his cars.
Funny how he really isnt into showing them.
I basically loaded the car myself and told him I was bringing it there so he should come and see it. LOL.
I will probably beg him to take it to Columbus and I'll wind up trailering it there along with 2 other cars we are bringing.
So to answer your question, no. Ohio will be the one and only stop next year for this car. It'll probably have 8,000 miles on it and be ready for a new paint job and thorough cleaning by then.

I had to do some digging to resurrect this thread !
Well... the mustang is back for a rear suspension upgrade.
Originally we built this car with a cool ride type bag set-up with mono-leaf springs for budget reasons.
With the Pocono Good Guys show coming up in a few weeks, and the idea of us thrashing the stang on the Autocross there, we decided to completely rebuild the rear suspension.
We are building a Rear 4-Link for maximum performance and adjustability. The build will include adjustable upper and lower links, upper chassis mount for a panhard bar and modifications to the existing sub frame connectors (where mounts weld to the frame rails). We'll clean up the exist. 8.8 rear by shaving the perch mounts and exist brackets and reuse it along with the existing cool ride bag set-up after modifications.

I should have detailed pics up by the weekend.

Not much in the way of pics... I'll have it on the ground tomorrow.
Had to come up with a new panhard bracket due to interference with the bag set-up and external fuel pump location.
Ideal would have been a diagnal link rather than the panhard but the exhaust was an issue.
So.....

LOL !
No the top is fully functional (electric).
It was raining pretty much the whole weekend with the exception of a few hours on Saturday.
The hartz cloth is pretty hard to keep pressed and looking tight (no wrinkles).
Not to mention those plastic vinyl rear windows are easy to scar up with creases. I'll see if I can get the owner to take a pic with it down.

Awesome definitely see if you can get pics with the top down. I am primarily a 69-70 fastback (or "sport roof" whatever they like to be called), but that vert is VERY nice looking.

Pete... the autocross finally dried out later in the day but at that point we were almost ready to go back to the hotel.
The owner did get to flog it pretty hard in the trailer parking lot area on the way back and almost threw it off into a ditch after getting carried away. Pretty funny. I wish I had my camera rolling.
