Well, as of yet the project has no name... we call it the "Orange 55" at the shop (even though there's isn't a lot of orange left :) ).

Here's a preliminary rendering formulated by the digital wizard himself... Mr. Carter Hickman.

Plans for the build include a custom chassis, C5 front and rear (salvaged from an 03 Z06), Air suspension at all four, a 4" ride height, 20x8.5 and 22x10" Boyd Coddington "Ace" wheels, a twin turboed LS1, and several minor sheet-metal mods.

Currently the car is up on the table and undergoing extensive sheet-metal removal... it started out as an original numbers matching car.:_paranoid

The car is being built to be driven...

wow that is going to be nice, just started doing some metal work on my 55 and found out it needs more extensive work on some of the bracing underneath (rust)
my plan was to do a low buck cruiser old skool style, but it is turning into more money and we havent even hardly started!

Carter does nice work!

rendering looks good, the car will be very similar( chassis-wise at least ) to xvettes car that won custom rod of the year as that has air and vette drivetrain too,

it lets you mount your gas filler neck behide the tailight like the 56/57 cleans up the body lines with out the gas door.

Thanks Nate. This is an inprogress rendering, so a few things are still going to change. The final is going to be awesome. I enjoy working with Nate on this project and cannot wait to see this one come together.

Nice job Carter....that sage color is beautiful. I like the understated, refined look this car has.

Just my $.02 but I can see car with a really high end 2-tone saddle or sandy color European leather. Like something you would find on really expensive home library/study furniture. Or you could be a little bold and go with a 2 tone green/sage interior.

You probably don't remember me, but I met you at the Scottsdale Goodguy's show last year. Your shobox is definitely top-notch.

I like the green/sage idea with the brushed accents as well... would you happen to "know somebody" who would be able to get their hands on a material sample?;) It would need to be something durable... he plans on driving this car A LOT.
