I want to install a Push Button Starter and ignition that would have a passive device that the car detects.

Starting procedure would be: insert the card type key into ignition (no turning of ignition required). Car would detect that key has been inserted. Next step: push start button.

Anyone know of an aftermarket setup like this that I could install into my '96 Viper GTS Venom 550 Hennessey car? Here is a link to my Viper build http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=10899

I have the Honda S2000 push button start and have spoken with a couple of Viper Club of America members who have installed it into their Viper. What they found out is that you can still start the car the traditional way: turning the ignition completely forward or turn the ignition part way and then push the start button. I would rather be forced to push the start button every time. Otherwise I am likely to forget that I have a start button and start the car the traditional way by turning the key all the way forward. And to me that is kinda Cheesy!

I think it would be cool to have a key that has a computer chip in it and the ignition would recognize the key when inserted...no ignition turning. Then the next step would be push the button.

on my 32 i installed an aftermarket ignition switch for a HD chopper, and a honda 2000 push button switch.. the alarm has an antitheft transponder thing installed so the key is almost redundant.. but i like the look of the round key-lock...

My sister just bought a Nissan Altima and it has a perimeter key. All she has to do is carry the key in her purse and the door locks will open. No key insert required. Same goes for the start/stop button. No key or card required. As long as the remote is within the perimeter of the car she can start/stop it.

Thanks for that info John! Maybe I'll have to call Nissan and see what the ignition setup would cost.

I might still install the Honda S2000 push button start that I purchased. I might get one of my electrical buddies to see if the ignition switch can have the starter connection disabled. Therefore forcing me to push the start button. :unibrow:
