John Force and Kenny Bernstein made contact with each other and the wall during Funny Car eliminations at the Fall Nationals in Ennis, Texas.

Team spokesman Dave Densmore reported Force's injuries to the media. "He was asking to talk to Laurie, his wife, and Ashley and Robert Hight, so that was a good sign," Densmore said. "He is in a lot of pain, obviously. They can't take passengers on the helicopter so the family is off to the hospital in a car."

"John has very, very serious injuries to his hands, his legs, and his feet that will require extensive work-up and treatment," said NHRA doctor Dwight Shewchuk, who was first on the scene with the Safety Safari. "Nothing appears life-threatening at this time but he certainly has significant injuries so he's been taking to Baylor Hospital where he'll be further evaluated.

"Although he was alert and conscious throughout the whole thing he was demonstrating some signs of a concussion as he was asking the same question over and over. But his vital signs were stable and he's on his way."

Get Well soon John!

I just saw what happened. Holy crap... I really hope he's ok. The front end of John's car broke off at 200+ mph.... Good lord... My prayers are with him and his family.

Just watched the drags on ESPN, and the announcer said that John has two broken legs and an injured arm (didn't elaborate on the arm). Hope he makes a fast recovery!

...(didn't elaborate on the arm)...
I just watched the end and they said that he had a dislocated left wrist, and it was broken as well, and the right hand had some abrasions to the fingers. He's also got some BAD leg injuries. It makes my legs feel funny to just think about them.

I was watching "wind tunnel" a little bit ago and from what I gathered, he did get hurt badly, but they hope to have his injuries repaired by this evenings surgery. They mentioned in a round about way that it is not severe enough that there will be any long term damage, so hopefully he can get back in the car as soon as he recovers. Keep this man in your prayers guys....

You have to wonder how this will play into his retirement decision. I'd hate to think that could have been his last pass ever...

It was a real strange thing. The part that was left with John in it went out of camera. You could see it briefly before the front of the chassi and most of the body went over and hit Bernsteins car. Could it be a clutchexplosion?

Hope he'll recover soon.

Great video..... glad to see he is ok that was a scary ride... He is a true racer already trying to figure out how he is going to drive at the next race. His publicist announced earlier today he would not return for the rest of the season. I bet Force doesnt wait that long.
