I'll post some more details when I have some time as well right now I have to go fly to some place Harrisburg to get Chambersburg, must be home of the burgs. I actually had to do a search for where and what State PA was. (Canadian)

I have lurked here for a while and spent more time at Pro-Touring.com researching and planning a build, then I saw Fuel. Details to follow.

That is right Steve , Dave just left here to go get some sleep and meet me in the morning here and go to the bank to do the transaction.

He has a copilot with him also , It should be fun . I hope Aeromotie got that fuel pump right this time !

I will post up a route that he is taking later today . If there is anyone out there on the board that will be in the area of his route , that would be willing to help if he had road trouble. It would be nice if I could get some phone numbers to anyone willing to lend a hand.

Talk to you guys later

Should've had an entire camera crew and chase vehicle to document that. Hell, TLC or SPEED should've done a segment on it. That car is without a doubt going to get some great attention going down the road. At minimun I'd like to see some videos on YouTube.

If he runs through Omaha, NE we can get Fuel and Blackeye Bob in some interstate video, that might be cool!

I am told that Steve Rupp is going to have him documnet is drive home and have something about the ride home in PHR, not sure?

Anyway , here is Daves route home. http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Chambersburg,+PA&geocode=&dirflg=&daddr=calgary+alberta&f=d&sll=40.084376,-76.852112&sspn=1.271321,2.449951&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=5

I would personally never do this without a back up plan .
We did the powertour the 1st year and had no problems, Powertour the second year and the fuel pump went out.

There are just to many things that could go wrong to be left along the road.
This is a very well driving and running car but we are at the mercy of what I like to call "OPP" other peoples parts !

At any rate I have been up the past 2 nights going over the car and double checking everything , I had to finish up somethings I never did and it was a joy to feel cold ac blowing in the car .

Anyone that thinks they could lend a hand through the trip above please PM me some numbers and contacts. I will then print them off and give the list to Dave tomorrow morning.

Congratulations to the both of you.
I can say I have followed that car for many miles, on two different Power Tours now (though I can not tell at what speed sometimes...hehe) and I know first hand the attention it commands on the road. Such a nice car, and since I too DRIVE my junk, I am glad it is going to a new home where it will be driven, not sit in hiding all the time. I would be glad to help if you come through Tennessee, but if you get here. you are heading the WRONG way.......hehe

Fuel is amazing! Jason a really nice guy and his shop is top notch! Every car in there is a work of art. If your looking for a builder I don't think you can go wrong at G-Force Design.

My next post should be after I park Fuel in my garage 2200 miles away....

Thanks for all the nice stuff said about the car. I feel like I cheated by purchasing a PT car rather then building. Hopefully I redeem my self with my high speed venture across the country, Take Care~ Drive safe.

You didn't cheat, many of us stuck in "forever projects" secretly wish we would have done this. lol

And buying a done car is less expensive that building, besides it doesn't make you less of a car guy.

Hell, a real car guy drives his junk and you're putting 2,200 miles on the car right off the bat.

Take pics and document the story of the trip. I'm sure we would all like to hear about your personal "power tour".

I wish I had more time for the updates but we are DRIVING! The burn outs LOL ya... there would be some good video, from the first unintentional ones...to the ones out of the "hood" gas station in Minneapolis for or lives/car and all the others all between.
The car is crazy good I'm super stoked, words can't explain! The adrenaline rush and a few dozen Red Bulls keeps us going and then we turned on the stereo, Wow!
Eat Now> Sleep> on the road again in a few hours! (funny we picked our hotel by the best car security in town!)

Oh ya Jason I said I would not drive in bad rain.... well it's not sooo bad really... I just wish it was not at night! Still handles like a charm in the rain just a bit greasy.

What size of snow tires? LOL

Well once again I just heard from Dave. They just called after buying a car along the way .

They are about 100 miles to Montanna. And in a few miles FUEL will have 5,000 miles on it . It has been running perfect and the only malfunction they had was a loose ground in the trunk and lost tailights and fuel gauge.

They actually stopped to try to fix it and they were asked what was wrong with there Mustang, LOL !

At this last stop they went to get gas, had a crowd around the car in North Dakota, probably not to many cars that look like FUEL in North Dakota!
They were approached by a guy who had a RS/SS 68 Camaro for sale. they quickly took off to see it and forgot to pay for gas. Shortly after that they were pulled over by 2 cops for not paying. After they explained the situation and paid for there gas they went to look at this other car .

I dont know much about it but apparently they bought it.
I cant wait to see there post later tonight.

Imagine they will wait to hit the border in the daylight. Roughly 700 miles to go to its home.

This makes us at G Force feel real good about the work we do . Hammer down Dave !!!!!!!

We need pics!

One last shot before the 2,282 miles.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/FUEL69DB/FrontofFuelatGForce.jpg

We left around 6:30PM and drove for about 25 hours almost non-stop, quick fuel stops and thats about it. One point we stopped for about 1/2 hour when an idiot light under the dash came on. We went over the entire car and could not find any issues. Phoned Jason and got word... don't worry about it.

Somewhere just passed Chicago after driving the morning rush hour.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/FUEL69DB/OutsideChicagomaybe.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/FUEL69DB/OutsideChicagoback.jpg

Our first stop for some sleep was in St Cloud, Minnesota the first major city we hit after driving evening rush hour through Minneapolis. (that is a whole story on it's own)

I woke up at about 5:00am to the sound of a car alarm, I panicked, yelled car alarm, two of us bolt up speed dress, and sprint 8 floors down the stairs, up 4 floors into the car park. About the 3rd floor of the car park (about to have a jammer) I realized it was not my car the key fob in my hand was not even going off! That was a rude awaking from a late night out on the town in St Cloud. Up so early we ate a nice breakfast went and bought some car cleaning gear and gave it a wash and hit the road.

We had planed on driving long as the road in Montana long and fast with enough turns to be exciting.

Montana

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee155/FUEL69DB/MontanaPolesbackground.jpg

However once night hit the amount of deer on the road was crazy, we passed 4 dead on the road and at least 100 alive.... it was very nerve racking! The brakes are amazing and had too many tests in this zone, we had to pull over. What ever the next town was we were stopping. As we pull into Wolf Point I see out of the corner of my eye, Welcome to Montanas Largest Indian Reservation!!!
Oh my god, it was interesting to say the least. ( again another whole story)
Filled up Fuel, asked where the Hyatt was and raced away to lose the crowds of people, the wild wild west. We checked out all the hotels. In the back of the best choice of the three hotels, we ran into some out of town workers and they said the car would be perfectly safe. Off to the Casino...

Up earlyish and away we go. We hit some of the highest speeds on this section of the trip, clear, empty, straight police free roads. I had Fuel holding about 135 mph for about 15 minutes just hummed along like it was nothing. When we pulled over for the next gas, smoke was pouring out of the engine bay, that was a bad feeling! The drivers side valve cover had come loose. Tightened it up and we took off again, headed for the border.

AMAZING pictures. I have a crush on Fuel even more than before. Damn, it's one thing to trek across the country taking in the beautiful sites...it has to be a whole other feeling to do it in such a beatiful car as well. You hit the lottery. If I begged would you mind emailing a couple of those pics so I can use them on my desktop here and at work?

Again...I'm glad you and Fuel made it safe. You ought to start a post telling us all the stories!

I have 20 receipts from fill ups and know I'm missing at least three, maybe more. Average about thirty dollars a fill. So about $690.00 in fuel 23 fills!
1/2qt. of oil.

That 13g tank is a pain on a long road trip.

One ground issue with the tail lights related to a ground issue with the fuel-gauge. Lights are working, still an issue with the gauge. The idiot light is still on.(check engine) Some issues with the DSE electric RS headlight units, it gave us a hassle the whole way now I have some zip ties holding it together.(works better now) I also noticed some 'sweating' of fluids from the rear.
Valve cover coming lose, a loose lower radiator hose. Some interior fit issues that became a bit of a pain.

That's about it!

Thanks for all the positive replies! It was truly an adventure and we both had lots of fun. I have some before/after pics from the detail shop, kind of interesting.
Which reminds me, Jason how much is that carbon fiber front spoiler?
It took a hit along the way, pics will follow...

Oh ya that radar detector in a pic or two above saved us lots! We also had some unreal radar 'karma.'

Later!

Consider that done, I plan to road trip to Vancouver with the car, hopefully this fall if I can pull it off. (busy at work)

Dave,
Jason tells me that Fuel is shutting off a little too early for your liking. Email me your physical address and email. I will email a file back with no speed limiter and the nearest location that can upload it for you, or I will send you a loaner cable.

Glad you are enjoying the car! I am sad to see it leave...but glad it has a good home.

Thanks
Dennis

Dave,
I have an empty 18 wheeler headed up your way to pick up 500 cases of Coors. Do you think that you and "Fuel"" could run interference Good Buddy!
Great story. Enjoy the car.

I think you'd be running the beer the wrong way but I'll help out Quicksilver where ever and when ever!
Hope your driving that thing!

Great story. Hot rods and adventures go together like chocolate and peanut butter...or something like that.

DAVE,
You are my hero for taking on that inter-continental trek:hail:
Those memories will last a lifetime.
Yes I am driving the car but nothing like you did.
I did take my car to the track with less than 300 miles on the clock.
But hell I imagine you are probably out shopping for snow tires so you can drive all winter.
You have enough power you could pull a 4 sled trailer.
What number did G Force assign to you car?
Mine is "004"

Good luck on that! That is what makes America great is the opportunity to sell a car for what it's worth if you build a bad ass car.

006~ sorry the pic is lame.

So I guess the new G-Force SEMA car (which is going to be amazing) is 007?
That'll be cool!

Have not had a ton of driving since being back, super busy at work.
