My parents saw this car auctioned off this weekend. If anyone wants, take a guess as to the sell price, and I'll post it in a few hours.
The car is SUPER nice. As close to being perfect in quality as one can get, IMHO. I saw it at GG Columbus, and it's one of my favorites for sure.

I guess 50 views is enough.
Winning bid. $250,000.
That means at least 2 people wanted that car, at or near that price to get it up that high. Crazyness...

You're probably right.
I think the Street-Rods did. They said those weren't bringing big bucks at all.
Maybe due to a flooded market of all the glass cars, and/or that the old guys that think they're worth their weight in gold are dieing off.

$250K? Who built it? For that kind of money I hope it was someone with a pedigree so the car will hold that kind of value. Otherwise I might be disappointed when it shows up at BJ and brings half that next Jan.

The car was at the Atlanta Southeast Chevelle Show (ACES). Nice car that is very well prepared. No doubt in my mind that $100K was spent to build the car given the level of preparation and detail.
Hardly worth $250K in MY opinion. For that kind of money there are other cars that will stand the test of time in value and desirability. From a collectibility standpoint, it's just a car.
Given the above fact, buyers with that kind of "jack" to spend may not be interested in the future and are buying what they "really like" and want. In that case the car was well worth the money to the bidder's since they now have instant gratification and all the peons like us talking about how stupid we think the buyer was in their purchase.
I hope to be stupid someday!!!!!

Like I said in the topic on Team Chevelle about that car... No doubt it's a very nice car, but for $250k I would expect to see something exotic done to it. It appears the whole thing was done with bolt-ons, and nothing much if any real fabrication work was done to it.

thats kinda what I was thinking. It looks like a killer car, but 250K.....
I am with Steve, I would take the aluminator and some other killer cars and go vacationing. Like Mark said when two dudes want a car and have deep pockets prices go crazy.

The 66 looks like a real nice ride, but 250k? I can see 60-70k. I guess you just have to find the right nut that wants it bad enough!!lol

I would go as far to say 100K depending on the parts put into it and the ride quality and performance. But 250k, the 2 guys that bid on it probably dont liek eachother and were just trying to out do one another.

As said.. you need TWO nuts.. lol
To a lot of people $250k is no big deal.. and these people typicaly get what they want and part of it is an ego thing. I am sure the "no way that guy is buying the car I WANT!!" comes into play and it becomes more about getting what you want then paying what something is worth. They can afford it so it's not something that's wrong, but it has less to do with $$ and more to do with a battle of wills.
Look at the GM bus that went for $4,000,000 .. That had nothing to do with what the bus was worth and everything to do with someone wanting to be the one that took it home.

I agree with you Steve, There are some people out there that have deep pockets, when it comes down to two egos in a battle for something they want they will both do foolish things to get it! I have a buddy in Buffalo that went to a auction in Ohio, went to bid on a 442 that he wanted really bad, ended up in a bidding war and he ended up paying 110k for it! One year later he sold the car for 35k. It was'nt worth more than that!! Drove the car Three times!! Fool!( I think he must of been the left)
