Hello everyone! My name is Brian, I have been a member here for a little while and finally decided I should introduce myself. I'm just getting started on my project car...it's a bit unusual especially for this site. I have had the car a little over 12 years now. I bought the car just before I went into the Marines and it has been in storage for most of the time since then. I'm still in the Marines and am finally in a position where I can start working on it. The progress is going to be slow for a couple of reasons, the first being a trip to Iraq in February and then the need to keep it somewhat intact because the Marines have kept me moving around. The plan is to make a pretty mild pro-tourer, kind of keeping with the old Buick tag line of "going fast with class". Anyway, here are some pics...try not to laugh too hard.

Looks like a good starting point. You don't see many Buicks on here. There are a number of them I really like.
What are your plans for it short term and long term?
What are the specs on the car as it sits?
Ty
BTW: Welcome!

I like it! Is that a '61 or '62? I think you can make a very nice ride from it, based on what you say you want.
Shiny Side Up!

Thanks for the welcome! As the car sits right now, it is almost completely original. It is a 62 Electra 225, so nearly everything is over 45 years old :_paranoid. It has a 401 cubic inch Nailhead V8 with a 4 barrel carb backed by a Dynaflow tranny. The brakes are currently four wheel drums :wow:.
My short term plans are to rebuild it concentrating on areas that are going to enhance the safety and driveability of the car so I can go cruising with the family with less fear. It is looking like I will be starting with rebuilding the suspension, keeping it mostly stock except for lowering it, using better shocks and larger antiroll bars. As long I have the front suspension torn apart I will also upgrade to front wheel disc brakes. I'm going to try to get that done (finances permitting) before I go to Iraq. When I come back then I will start getting into bodywork and the like.
Long term, I am planning on fuel injecting the Nailhead, however I will be keeping the Dynaflow because it is unique and sooo smooth. I will also be getting some larger rims (17" or so) in the pursuit of better handling. Overall, I am aiming for the feel of a European luxury car...a smooth ride with excellent handling.
BTW: I was led to this forum by search for pics for 61 and 62 Buicks. I found a pic of the car owned by 61Bubbletop...very cool.
