prepping motor for install

I found high temp rtv between the intake and heads.
im sure there wont be any vacum leaks but im concerned about performance?
I dont feel like taking the intake off to correct that issue but will try to scrape or cut most of it off.
engine runs on dyno fine but im sure i can get better flow without the RTV in the way.
whats the best approach for the removal of the RTV without disturbing the intake?

I would take it off and seal it the right way. Silicone is overused by most. Silicone has it's uses but around intake ports is not one of them. Get some trim adhesive and glue the new gaskets in a few places away from the ports so the gasket doesn't move. Then you can use the silicone for the end rails.

i just use it around the water jackets.like it is it wont hurt anything just isnt needed there.

Is the manifold on the engine or on the bench ?
If it ran fine on the dyno, I'd say the trouble of scraping isn't worth the risk of it (a) going down the runners or (b) worth the 1.2hp gain you'll get from removing it.

id lust leave it.. but on the other hand id rather spend 10 munutes just re-doing it. than 2 hours discussing weather to do it or not.. and still lay sleepless wondering it it would make a difference....

btw RTV is Room Temperature Vulcanizing silicone. HTV is High Temperature Vulcanizing silicone... there is no such thing as high temp rtv (except mabe to a sales person trying to sell the same thing at twice the price..) ... not that it matters.. it just caught my eye in your first post that it was "high temp rtv" in the port...
