Hey guys,
My friend kept telling me about this website, and I finally checked it out tonight. Well, I can tell that I'm gonna be visiting quite often. :)
I have a 1971 Cuda, 440 with Indy EZ 295 heads, 727 auto trans, AlterKtion front end with QA-1 coilovers and 1.125" anti-sway bar, Wilwood 12.19" disks all the way around, stock rear leafs with 8.75" rear and 3.91 gears, and Wheel Vintiques billet rallye wheels with Nitto tires. I've had my Cuda for almost 20 years and it is finally getting some good money spent on it. :woot:
See ya around!

Thanks guys for the welcome!
Rhaps, I recognize your avatar. The Cuda definitely handles better than stock, but I still have to dial it in a bit more (front spring rates, rear suspension, etc).
Thanks jy211. Sweet cars in your signature!
Hey Ricochet, I just went to the Jasper's car show in Rocklin last evening. Were you there?

looks great whats the 4 braided lines go to the left inter fender. are you gonna run a full exhaust or just mount some tips in the holes to make it look like it.

Thanks guys! I'm glad to see such a local presence on this site.
andrewmp6, those braided lines are for my fuel system. I have two feed pumps in parallel and one return line. I have been using two old Holley blue pumps for about 15 years now, and they've been chugging along comfortably, no doubt because of the return-style regulator. I used to have nitrous with one fuel pump for carb and one for solenoid, but I took the nitrous off and just combined the two feeds into one. I have a new Weldon DB2015 fuel pump going in, as soon as my stroker (540?) short block gets together.
For the exhaust, I definitely want to run it all the way out the back, through factory-style tips. That is another project to do after the short block goes in. I'm going to have Mark at Performance Welding (http://performanceweldingheaders.com/index.htm) make up a custom set of stainless 2" primary headers and a full 3" stainless exhaust run to the tips. My current exhaust is 15 year old rusty crap which really needs to be retired....:willy: :)
Thanks again, and I'll see you on the forum.

your cuda is really nice...!! :thumbsup:Thanks Gionni! Your RoadRunner is very nice as well. I've seen some pictures of it on this forum. My Dad owns a 71 RoadRunner with a 340 auto that we've had in the family since 1972 (my aunt owned it first and traded cars with us).

your cuda looks great!, just thought i would let you know that if you are going to run big stainless headers then be sure to get them ceramic coated as the heat they will generate is enormous and as well as heating up the engine bay they give plug leads a hard time, i know from experience"" of the problems they cause even though they look great, just my 2cents worth,

Hey Ricochet, I just went to the Jasper's car show in Rocklin last evening. Were you there?
No I didn't make it. We just just had a baby on Wed, so my time away has been short, but will hopefully make it out there. Less than 5 mins away from my house. I didn't know it was going again, I'll have to check it out.

Guys, I am humbled by the great responses. Thank you very much. My car has a ways to go yet... I hope it doesn't disappoint when it finally gets "done." :)
Ricochet, congratulations on your new baby!! That's awesome. I'll let you know when I bring the Cuda out to Jaspers. This week I'm getting new subframe connectors and front frame connectors installed, so my car may be down a few days. There's always next week, though.
krptonite, thank you for the information! I'll talk to Mark about that when the time comes. Would you recommend JetHot, or another type/brand of coating?

Welcome aboard !!
Now if you value your money....run away fast !! This site will get you addicted and spending $$ like there's no tomorrow :)
Just kidding of course...
Anyway.... I'm building a 70 Barracuda pro-touring style car right now. Its still got along way to go. Still up on the rotisserie doing rust repair etc. I do have the Alterkations k-frame mounted and mocked up and a full Air Ride set-up front and back
My plan is modern 5.7 HEMI with forced induction..... want to go turbo, but $$ may keep me in the centrifigal supercharger world. Once again, many ideas but we'll see where my budget leads.
What are the specs on your rear wheels and tires ?? I'm planning on minitubbing my car to be able to run 345 and sink the tires up in the wheelwells when I drop the air...
Keep in touch... we may be able to help each other out....

Hey Ned!
Man, I am just looking through threads here and keep having to pick my jaw up off the ground. :D Honestly, I feel fortunate to have found this site, and see so many people doing incredible things with their cars.
Your Cuda build sounds very cool. I'd love to do a turbo set-up too, as my roommate back in the early 90's was a Buick Grand National guy and we used to talk turbos and fuel injection all the time. Now I'm a little more conservative and want to just build a rock-simple ~550 rwhp NA big block.
My wheels/tires are:
Front: 17x8 with 4.5" BS, 235/45-17, Nitto 555 tires
Rear: 18x9.5 with 5.25" BS, 295/45-18, Nitto 555 tires
I'd definitely like to keep in touch with you!

jethot is a good way to go, there are a few companies that do it, we had it done on the viper headers we used when we installed a viper motor in a 70 cuda along with a modified alterkation front and a heidts independent rear, and boy does it drive nice!!! there are pics of the build on my boss's website, lowdownhotrods.com, if you go on it then go to "what weve done" then look up paul lauffert cuda, it was a real wreck and started out as a 318 car but is now a high dollar machine and the owner beats the snot out of it which is just how it should be really!! the woodgrain on console and dash is airbrushed on and the stock doorpanels were covered in soft leather so it looks stock but feels much classier .

Hey Jason
How much room do you have with the rear wheels ??? any rubbing ?
I really want to be able to drop my car to the ground and still run a 345 tire. I think I can do it mini-tubbing but not notch the frame. I have a junk 345 that I'm using for mock-up and I think it will work.....
I was planning on being conservative too..... then I found this site and Pro-touring.com..... budget go "bye bye" :)

krptonite, you guys have done some very cool stuff. I didn't know that Rod Saboury had built another Vette!
Ned, I don't rub with my stock wheel wells (except for the wheel well lip bent for clearance) and stock leaf spring locations. I have about a quarter inch clearance to the leaf springs on both sides, and about an inch clearance to the quarter panel sheet metal. The wheel lips were bent before I bought the car; this wheel and tire combo may clear with stock wheel lip locations. I haven't checked a 345 tire in there, but I know that there is a bunch of room when the springs are moved/removed.
Gionni, my Dad's RR is green/green and he drives it almost everyday.

Hey Jason
I'm running the Air Ride system in the back and have already moved the lower control arm inward. The limiting factor is now the inner wheelwell, so I just have to figure out if I need to notch the frame or not.
Nice car.... maybe we can meet up and have a beer.....

yeah, rods new car is plain awesome, he was cruising woodward last week with it and he said he was stuck in traffic for one and a half hours and it never overheated or had clutch problems, which, when you consider the power( dyno'd @ 2300bhp @ approx 29lb of boost!!) and a lenco trans thats no mean feat, we will hopefully be track testing it onsept 15th to get it(hopefully) in the sixes as the license plate states, rod is a cool guy and very quiet, he doesnt need to boast about anything with his record. The car has won dozens of awards and if you get the chance to see it up close i am sure you will be impressed, i really hope this doesnt read as though i am bragging or anything but we are just really passionate about what we do for a living and i hope it shows in our finished cars, mike.

krptonite (Mike), don't worry dude, you have plenty to brag about. :hail: Rod's car is crazy!!!
Aside, my subframe connectors have taken several days, and they are still not finished... But, they are getting done in-between jobs, so I am getting a good price on the labor. Not to mention that I am doing half of the work, when it happens.
