Never been so I need to know if I need to make reservations or can I get by with a taxi or bumming a ride from someone.

Taxi's are plentiful in Vegas, usually 5-10 in front of every hotel. Last year I stayed at the Flamigo and walked over to the Sands Trade and Convention center where they had no stop shuttle service free to the Las Vegas TCC, no need for taxi's unless you are drunk or in a hurry.

Taxi or shuttle should be fine.

Not sure where Sandlin's place is, but I would guess that would be the furthest trip I plan to make.

I rented a car last year but I was way out at Palace Station and I got a very low discounted rate from my Bro-in-law at Hertz. It was way more convenient than the cabs and faster than waiting for the hotel shuttle. It was also great to drive to the dinner. This year my bro-in-law no longer works for Hertz so I made sure to stay within walking distance of the Trade Center. I'll have the free shuttle to the airport and only one cab ride to Steve's place.
You'll probably be fine between the shuttle and taxis.
Mike,
I wouldn't. Where are you staying? Are you staying @ the Flamingo, too?
I'm not renting one. I'm just going to wing-it.
We're staying at the Imperial.
I think I'll just walk downstairs to the musuem and take the "Gone in 60 seconds Shelby" out :unibrow:

If you are just going to do the show and that is about it, you will be fine without a car. i am sure you can hitchhike to the Pro Touring and Lateral G dinners. I always rent a car if I do not drive out. But we go to a lot of vendor parties and like to bounce around a lot. A couple taxi fares equals a rental car pretty quick. One cool thing in Vegas is every casino / hotel has free valet, so parking is fast and easy. Also, the city is laid out in a checker board grid, and it is nearly impossible to get lost.

I have to agree with Frank. If you are going to bounce around ALOT get a car. If you don't mind walking some and hailing a taxi to the Horse II pass on the rental car.
Plus parking at the show is a BITCH. Well maybe not a bitch, but I have walked down Convention Rd and over the sky bridge and got my badge before some friends even found a parking spot.
I have been to Lost Wages ALOT and I stopped renting a car years ago. Yea its 5-10 for a taxi and ask the price before you jump in, ALWAYS. I also speak up to the driver and point out that come to Vegas ALL THE TIME so he isn't inclined to pad the ride with some tour or a freeway blast. The Strip is very close the airport, watch where the cabie drives.
At the airport if you're not staying at some hotei totei hotel the Grey Line runs to every hotel for 6 bucks (don't pay the round trip price, you call and pay for that trip on the way back)

We rent a car because they are pretty cheap, fun to thrash on, and we normally stay at my sisters place just outside of town. Did I mention that rental cars are fun to beat on? FYI...Imperial Palace doesn't approve of getting airborn in their parking ramp. The jumps on the lower level of the airport are also highly recommended. :unibrow:
I think we usually have a mid or full size car for about $16 a day after taxes!
We might be able to get a couple of guys back to the strip after the :lateral: party on Wednesday, too. The wait for cabs can get kind of long.

No pun was intended, meant dragged. I could stand a few drinks, I am below quota for the year. I am not a big drinker, but I make exceptions for rare occasions.

I always rent a car. I reserve it months in advance and get a killer rate that way. The rent car makes it very easy to get around. I park in the lot across from the convention center. I also like having a car for those late night returns to my hotel.
