Okay since I can't get Kenny to send me pics of my Truck. I figured I would redo
my garage since i've sold all of my toy's to pay for my truck.
Here is how it all started back in 2000 - yes 2000
See that pile of mulch that is going to be my Garage's new Home.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/04_20_00_007.jpg
okay a year later and some grass we have a "Sleeper Garage"
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2001_07_16_2.jpg
From the Street it looks like a normal 2 car Garage.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2002_04_26_50.jpg
This is where i started taking apart my truck.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2002_10_20_12.jpg
Peg Board became my best friend.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2003_08_31_0.jpg
Okay it's time for a change and a complete redo of the garage. It's never been
very worker friendly so i'm redoing it i hope for the last time.

Okay so some of the things that i've done that are worth there weight in gold.
I put in an attic fan to let the hot air out. It was a night an day difference.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2005_07_08_24.jpg
Started building a shallow attic back in January

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_01_11_001.jpg
Insulated the ceiling.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_01_14_001.jpg
Put up a temporary curtain so I would only have to heat the back half of my Garage in the Winter.

07-24-2007, 11:12 AM
I put up warehouse racks in the Garage so I would have a place for all of my parts.
I wanted to make sure everything was there before I sent it down to Kenny's.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_02_05_006.jpg
Okay i just like this picture
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_01_28_004.jpg
Added two more windows. So now I actually have some cross ventilation in the garage.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_04_20_001.jpg
Okay now the fun part. I stripped all of the tape off the joints and started redoing it. Man I hate drywall work.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_06_11_001.jpg
This kinda gives you an idea where i'm heading with the garage redo

Finally found a good use for my trailer
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_06_30_007.jpg
added some more braces to the attic
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_07_08_004.jpg
ran more electrical in the ceiling
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2007_07_08_010.jpg
okay i've given up. I am going to hire someone to do the ceiling.

Actually they taped it over the weekend. I just need to post pics but i have to go buy a new Tri-Pod since i gave it to Kenny. I am trying to inprove his picture taking skill's - boy ain't got no Camera "Skills"
Heater - it's awesome. A little over kill for the garage. I could have gone with a smaller unit.

Okay the heat wave has ended in Chicago and I was actually able to get primer on the walls. I still have some touching up to do which shouldn't take more then a day.
I'm hoping to paint the ceiling and the walls this weekend. Still trying to decide on the accent colors on the side wall.

So Jerry and I started working together to come up with some designs for my garage. Here is what we've come up with so far. It's going to change a little but i just haven't had time to talk with him. Been way to busy at work.

WTH Marty ? You score the Lottery lately or something.... bad ass TT mini-truckster, the 2nd gen, outrageous garage makeover.... - or should I forward this to ATF for a little 'discussion' with ya ??
Only thing I might suggest is wiring conduit in the walls for all the entertainment wiring/interface. You doing Sat recvr, DVR, audio, IR ports, cable, cat-5 remotes, PC interface, antenna, etc ?? I'd figure all that out and make sure you have enough power outlets, interface cable conduits, etc. so that you don't need to pull any cabinets to wire it all up.
I did all that when I wired my garage and shop. They are zones of a multi-zone system interfaced to the main A/V systems in the house via IR Cat-5 remotes. The only control device I have in the garage is the TV tuner and a Sat receiver.
LOVE that Plasma man !!! (and jealous too...)

Actually, I've sold all of my other projects so i could finish Syborg and I didn't plan to build another car till after the mini-truck was completed. But then i just couldn't pass on the Camaro. My best friend growing up had one so it brings back High School Memories so i had to have it.
The garage on ther other hand has been something that i've been wanting to do for so long and I figured since the Trucks at Kenny's I had to do it. I had all of the tool boxes at my warehouse for the last 6 months and I have about a grand left to spend on racks and misc stuff then it should be complete less the tv.

I picked ups some cable from www.windycitywire.com - it's some really cool stuff. Two Cable, Two RG6, Two Speaker all wrapped up in one wire. I will be putting in a 5 chanel stereo in the garage with some old Bose Speakers that i've had since the early 90's. Should sound good for a garage.

Very nice!
Right now my garage, with Penny in it, looks crappy.. exposed studs and one lousy 110v outlet.
When the Fairlane goes I'm rebuilding it to be a nice shop. Thanks for the tips!

Spent some time looking for the right pole

They make a removable one. I think it's a good idea one less thing to have to explain to the kids and neighbors

This tidbit from the website concerned me:
It can handle a person up to 200 pounds.
That causes images I would rather not have in my head!! :willy:

Shop looks great Marty!! BTW, thanks for the lead on the cabinets. I ended up buying 2-15' wall units that I'm in the process of putting together. Overall very pleased with them. As you said for the $ they are extremely hard to beat. Hopefully I'll have the garage done in a month or so. Still getting settled in the house.

Funny my wife has me finishing the basment. All that's left it to tie the electrical into the panel.
thanks again for the compliments on the garage.
ps - i still think it needs more color.

I was surprised to see my shop in your pics. Thanks! I had completely forgot that I posted those on GarageJunkies.net before doing a repaint last summer. I never took any after pics, but on Boxing Day I was bored and played around with some low light pics of the car... they show a little of the new look.

Well not being one to leave things alone.
I finally decied to spent some money to finish up the curtain to seperate the front half of the garage.
I made a quick call to the guy's at Goff's Enterprise and they helped me order up the right Curtain Wall. It's a really nice piece, my only regret was not ordering it sooner.
I order the 2 curtain in two complete tracks so the curtains could pass by each other on seperate tracks. This allows me to keep half the garage covered at all times. re: hide the project car from street view.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_004.jpg
first thing to do is hang the tracks
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_010.jpg
then hang the curtains on the rolling hooks
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_012.jpg
and about 20 minutes later it's done
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_013.jpg
I ordered mine with a clear panel in the center so I could see out to the driveway and not feel like I was in a small garage.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_016.jpg
here is the number just in case anyone's interested. I worked with Ed and he was a pleasure to work with.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2008_12_26_Curtain_Wall_017.jpg
In the end it took about 90 minutes to install by myself. My wife actually likes it because it make the garage look much cleaner.

thats a cool addition! but a lil contradictory since you got the clear centers to see out... that means the project car CAN be see from the outside.

It's really odd - from outside the garage you can see something but since your at a distance it's hard to seen in.

Back to working on the Garage again. Like I said getting ready for the next project car.
I needed space for Parts and Tires. The plan is to suspend a shelf even with the attic area.
Dennis at Hi-Speed Welding (( www.highspeedwelding.com )) ordered me some heavy wall
2 x 2 Square tubing and welded tabs on the ends.
Spent about 2 hours sanding them smooth, getting them ready for paint.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2009_04_05_Garage_006.jpg
All painted in Chassis Black

Picture of the center support brackets that will tie into the ceiling
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2009_04_05_Garage_016.jpg
I hung the first 20 footer, man is that hard to do by yourself. You can also see that the
center supports are already hung. Okay that was also a pain in the butt.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2009_04_05_Garage_020.jpg
There are three 3/8" lag bolts that tie the center supports in the ceiling rafters. I had to put in
two extra boards in the attic to anchor the center support.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2009_04_05_Garage_025.jpg
Okay the shelf is up.
The center will be used for Tire Storage and the corners will be used for parts storage.
http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Garage/2009_04_05_Garage_028.jpg
Still to do is build the uprights and I this time I am going to have the center supports
powder coated by Jay over at Pro-Tek Powder Coating (( www.propowder.com ))
