I was on my back for the last 5-6 months...On and off, but never "on" long or well enough to permit working on the car without having to stay in bed for 2 weeks if i did....I TRIED IT!!! Beleive it when people tell you health is the most important thing in life   (My Doctor had signed me a paper to consult in for surgery... Man am i glad i'm better. Still, i have to be carefull, but whew! Not going thru that....yet.)

Anyway, tought i'd update for those who care;

I removed the housing and suspension today, that free'd some space to test the wheels!!! I think it looks ok.... :-)

I also recently got Hooker ceramic headers and swap mounts, Edelbrock/MSD 6LS to drive my 6.0L , a Moroso fabbed oil pan, also, a T-56 and firewall bracket are now in the garage next to the engine awaiting their turn.

Since i removed the suspension today, i will be able to test fit the Air bar later this week too, looking forward to that!

After that, i will take final measures to have my 12 bolt shortened and rebuilt, and i'm getting ready to order SC&C A-arms and bags for the front.

I've just finished (Today) repairing the inner rocker (Driver side) as it was all rottened up (Inner only, not the lip (pinch weld) from sitting so long i guess the other side's floor and rocker are like new and virgin, go figure!?) And i'm going to replace the floorpan on that side too before next week.

After that, its going to the sandblaster for the whole underside and a colour matched liner will be applied on its return.

Then, REBUILD!!!

It sure is nice to be able to work on it again, i was beginning to think i was never going to get back at this. Hey, seems patiences does pay off!

Cool news Lead, I'd like to see how you do the airbar with the wheel tubs. BTW the wheels do look great, and it looks like you are getting a nice pile of parts together.

car is looking good.dont over do it after surgery.I had back surgery in 93 as I had no other choice. 6 months of therapy didnt work.it took about a full year before it didnt hurt at all.but I feel great now.car is already 36 years old take your time.

Take care of the back. I'm tellin you now, my back is in bad shape after this last build. If I just had surgery, I would never attempt any of the under dash stuff.

Good luck, looks like you got a nice project going!

Thanks guy's!

Its nice to be back at it. I really was beginning to think about getting Pro at Bingo or somtin'. Thanks for the support.

Now, serious stuff needs to happen! I want that thing on the ground asap. i would like it to be rolling and braking before snow comes in so i can do bodywork and re-assembly before summer (Next). All new stuff...should go well...'Should' being the key word here  .

I just got a few top material (Stayfast Canvas) sample... A Fire red is one of them, its killer!!! At this moment i'm either thinking Triple red w/ the Gun met wheels black hockey stripe and CF Hood or Black and black top with a red interior and a red hockey stripe to blend in with my calipers and same CF hood. (Hehe...That makes my colours official don't it?) I'm really leaning on triple red but it seems kinda soft, altought POPPING, compared to the black idea which would make it more 'Menacing' kinda....Toughts?

Rybar, i will let you in on the Airbar install. I should be in the garage on the week end trying that out. I don't see any problem as the notch in the frame was done in the rearmost part of it, not in the front where the bar mounts.
The only issue i will have (i think) is w/ the lower bar to tire/rim clearance.

But, i read (here) that Frank (Prodigy) and Air ride are working at this problem right now by modifying the bar 'a la DSE' or something....I had asked and told Darren (Ridetech) about this and the possibility of modifying my AirBar (version 1) lower bars and it can be done simply too, but if they get new parts out i will try and get them. It would definetely help out!
Not easy running big shoes ya know!!! :unibrow:

Mark, i like your way of thinking, "Car is already 36 years old" Nicely said!

I'll post some pics of the progress as it goes,

Thanks Paul!

Hey, I like the new Avatar!!!! (and the whole way your car came out!)

Sure wish i was closer to attend all the US shows and could have seen yours up close...I looked at some tickets to attend the Carcraft Nats yesterday and best deal i found was around 475$, Flight only... and thats for me alone.
I guess that price will buy a Hydroboost unit or something instead

Looks great! I vote for Black on Black. I think triple red might be a bit too much for me.
Who are you getting you top material samples from? I am looking for a saddle tan color in some sort of "mercedes style cloth top". Any suggestions?

Hey Lead!

I'm sorry but I hadn't heard of your injury! I was wondering what had happened to you! Good to see you back at it!
If you can, try and get to SEMA! I have a feeling it's going to be pretty wild!

Murtah,

SURE! The guy is super nice and he sent me the samples right away. The fabric looks kinda like real tight/ thick cotton and has that 'suede' look from a distance, really nice and not too expensive and you can get either a plastic or glass replacement window too.

www.topsonline.com

Talk to Vic ( [email protected] ) and tell him i sent you! (Mario- 69 Camaro w/ red samples)

John,

Yeah, had to slow down (Read; Forced!)....Real bummer but no choice. I would love to get to sema. I have no clue how to get ticketc tough? I heard as long as you have a business you could get some but mine is not 'Car' related, is that an issue? Sure seems like the place to see!!!

You know, i'm like that, when i dont have my car ready....i rarely attend shows (local) but when i have it rolling, its always out! I guess i just feel like a poseur when i have nothing to show  , same on the forums...My car was not progressing so i stayed a bit on the side lately. (I'm following your build tough! )

Thanks, Lead. I didn't see that red color you were considering. Can he do other color/ materials for 69 rag tops? I am kind of partial to the european canvas tops.
