I couldn't help myself, picked up one of these Saturday.
A 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000, 162 rwhp, over 100mph in 1st gear, 14000 rpm redline.
My wife says I won't make it a week before I start modifying it.
She's probably right.

that is a sick piece of machinery... knowing that they can be turbocharged ill put my money on your wife being right though, so enjoy the bike while its still assembled! :D I personally havent ridden either the 06 or 07 gsxr, but the power to weight ratio is so out of this world, my best advice is be carefull of both your self and your drivers licence.

A friend's '06 Gixxer 1000 I rode topped out at *ONLY* 96mph in first gear according to the GPS.

Damn dude be carefull.
You never know when someone is going to pull out in front of you , or some sort of animal can jump out on the road.

My employee Dan actually suffered 2 broken arms as a result of someone throwing a football and it landing in front of his tire.

It wedged between the tire and the ground at 50mph. Needless to say it stopped the bike dead in its tracks....over he went. bike destroyed and him out of work for 1 year with broken arms, no money bills get behind!!!

I love that bike Jeff, I have owned many myself as well as a turbocharged Hyabusa that I went 8.65 with a street tire.

I dropped one bike and after my road rash healed I said no more...cant assemble cars all torn up . BE SAFE

07 is completely different than 06 higher redline, more hp, etc.
Yea, I've crashed before, no fun. Brainerd MN was the last big one,
a year later they were still doing surgery on my arm. I've owned and ridden sport bikes continuously since 1985. I have 2 now, 3 counting my wife's Aprilia. She also owns a full service motorcycle accessory store.

I figured as much, just razzing you a little bit. :)

Every time I think I'm ready for another bike I end up not getting one. There's one guy at work right now out due to an incident over the weekend, another guy at work was out out all last week for funeral arrangements for his brother who bought a Harley and wound up dead less than 1 mile away from the dealership, and another of my guys just came back to work today after being gone 9 1/2 months because of surgery and rehab from losing his right leg from the knee down due to someone pulling out in front of him while on his bike on the way to work.

I would have no problem picking up a track bike but every time I look it seems a friend or one of the guys at work has been involved in an incident on the street. Car drivers are really dumb around here and there are a LOT of them on the road at any given time... bad combination! At least with a track bike your primary focus is riding and having fun rather than playing dodge-a-car.

If there's one thing I've learned about bikes is that *everyone* has accident stories, either about themselves or friends/family members, etc. The choice in the end is up to you. And they're so much fun it's tough to say no!

I shouldn't be talking though about safety... right now some friends and I are putting a 2002 R6 motor in an EZ-Go Golf Cart, should be ready for the maiden voyage/wheelies/burnouts in a month or sooner. I want a 100+ mph golf cart for some reason. In all probability a sportbike is safer than this thing. Still need to talk to the track officials about running it down the 1/4. I'll post a drive report and/or a medical report once it's on the road. :P
