There's some talk that the reserve won't be/cannot be met, that the car isn't really for sale. HeartBeatCity.net is getting A LOT of advertising for the $40 insertion fee of the auction.

There are a few guys here that are in the know, maybe they'll give some insight.

Looks like he pulled it early. Maybe he was afraid reserve would be met even though it was astronomical. Anyone who is diappointed that their bid didn't land them the car I'd be more than happy to talk with them regarding building a 69 they could actually feel comfortable driving. lol Ed

A buddy of mine made this observation, when we were talking about this auction/car:

It seems fishy and I’m guessing it’s staged more to market the car and create Camaro hysteria than to actually sell it. I can’t imagine a car like this actually selling through eBay. Wouldn’t there need to be lawyers and brokers and contracts on a deal like this?
You don’t just paypal somebody a million bucks.

The high bidder just bought t-tops for a late 70’s trans am for $43 dollars that “need cleaning”. Now why is a guy who’s putting together a 79 trans am and buying dirty t-tops be in the market for a million dollar Camaro?
I can’t find a single substantial item in any of the active bidder’s histories. One of the guys is a hobby dealer, and another mostly buys a lot of soft core porn DVD’s.

Look at the first bidder. He goes $775,001 and is outbid at a maximum of $775,427. He’s willing to go $775,000 but not another $500?

The next guy’s window is $200. The 3rd guy’s window is $300 and then 2 guys at $100 each. The bids make no sense. Based on these bids the bidders are capping their bids at 0.02% of their initial bids.

"I’ll go $776,000, but not a penny more than $776,200!!!!"

The rich guys at Barret Jackson that bid on cars at this level would be dammed if they’d loose a car like this over $100k, let alone $200. It’s wacky.

When cars like this (or any really big ticket item) hit Ebay, you get knuckleheads who will just make ridiculous bids on the items for fun or to thumb their noses at the seller. I'm surprised someone didn't bid 200 million.

IMHO..There isn't a Camaro, ZL-1 or otherwise, that is going to hit 1M anytime soon, not when there are many examples of even more rare cars (several historically significant Corvettes come to mind) that have not managed to even come close to doing so.

Wasn't the only 1st gen Z-28 convertible, a car made for Pete Estes by product development at GM, not too long ago offered at auction and didn't it receive a serious million dollar bid but didn't sell because the reserve was like 1.2 million? Anyone remember the details or was I dreaming? Truly a one of a kind. Ed

Before anyone buys raffle tickets for that COPO...the fine print on the ticket states that if something like 100,000 tickets are not sold , the raffle turns into a 50-50 raffle.

Charley, I looked around the site a little but I didn't see where they talked about a minimum amount of tickets that need to be sold.
