Default LS1 --> 65 Chevelle - What all do I need?

My wagon is currently undergoing a frame off. What items will I need to install an LS1 and 6-spd into this car and what kind of budget should I expect. Main concern now is budget and getting the engine transmission combo installed into the chassis.

Rumor has it you can buy an LS1 and 6-spd from SPS Performance for around $4k with 12mo warranty. What other components will I need for the install? Harness, oil pan, computer, programming? Has anyone broke this items out with estimate to cost?

Does someone have contact info for SPS Performance out of Georgia?

Would be nice to find a shop in Minneapolis that could assist with or do the install.

Thanks for the heads up on street and performance.

I am currently doing the same in my car.

You'll basiccaly need one engine/trans combo of course. You can find it on eBay for around $4000, usually complete with harness, hydraulic clutch MC and all accesories.

Then you need a new tank with pumpsystem, electric fans for the radiator, new instruments, custommade headers or maybe there are some that will fit your car, a new trans crossmember and engine mountsadapters. Plus a few other things.

You will find a lot of guys here that already have done it or are almost done that will help out with good advice.

ls1tech.com has a conversion section with a lot of advise.

Good luck

Jan

Also don't accept street and performance as the end all to be all for parts for the swap. They are pretty widely accepted as overpriced. Look around before you buy everything from them there are other options.
