Default Bell Housing

I installed the backing plate. Had to drill out a hole where Keith Craft put in a plug that was sticking out.

Default Bell Housing 2

Then I installed the bell Housing without the clutch or pressure plate to check the transmission centerline alignment. Good thing I did. I will have to replace the dowel pins with offset dowel pins. It was .050 total off. Divided by two (center) and I need the .025 (closest .021) pins.

If you do not do this procedure, you can have "pilot bearing wear, main shaft bearing wear, difficulty in shifting, and in extreme cases breakage of transmission gears and cases".

Default PIAA Bacup Lights

I once was told that Unique Performance "glues" the PIAA backup lights in the rear valance. They can be mounted using the included brackets very easily.

Default Fast Xfi

Installed the FAST XFI box behind the glove box. it fits pretty well back there. Along with all that electrical harness. I also Cut a hole in the firewall for the wiring.

And I finished the alarm system mounting, but not all the final electrical connections. For an old man like me, all that bending over, laying upside down, under the dash is tough!

Default Be3ll Housing Problem

The bell housing is a big problem. The dowel pins in the block are very tight. I called Keith Craft and he told me that he had a kit and I did not need to remove those dowels. Got the kit, it includes longer dowel pins and a larger washer that welds to the outside of the bell housing. Just drill out the original holes to a larger size, move the bell housing in to place, and weld on the washers. Will call Keith again tomorrow and verify that I DO need to pull those pins.

Default Wiring

Been working on the wiring. The front end is almost complete. All the lights are in position, wired, working and aligned (as well I can with them pointing at the garage door).

Installed item: Electric windows, power door locks, alarm system with paging, Bluetooth, GPS map, rear camera, remote window roll down, remote start and tracking GPS.

Things still on the list: Rotating license plates, front & rear bullet deflector, oil slick, telescoping tire slasher, passenger ejector seat, front mounted machine guns, extending side skis, spike-producing tires, missiles, lasers (an update on the DB5's tire-slasher), signal-intercepting smart radio, head-up display, rocket propulsion, self-destruct mechanism and adaptive camouflage.

ha ha Now wouldn't that be a trip.

Default Two Steps Forward, One Back

I was stewing about how I was going to get those dowel pins out without hurting that aluminum block. So I designed a dowel pin puller out of a piece of pipe, a grade 8 bolt, nut and two washers. With a little welding it worked great. Anybody that has a Shelby/Aluminum block take note. They were in there tight.

Centered the bell housing and welded the washers in place. Looks factory after I painted them, huh.

Ready to go. No. Wait. My pressure plate is a diaphragm, and the flywheel is designed to the long finger (or Ram) pressure plate. Well, after a long discussion with Keith Craft and Rob in Plano, we are making a change. Dual disc clutch setup. Clutch, pressure plate and flywheel all with be changed. So I just assembled what I could.
