Maybe a OD conversion is first. You won't be doing 70 with King kiss ass Renner. Even though I think he still has a 3 speed?

Thank you, and I think you're right on the mufflers.

Thanks, and yep it was. I was actually getting pretty close to buying a 67 in Texas when I found an old expired craigslist for this car about 2-3 months ago and went and contacted him thru the forum.

Oh yeah. That is definitely the first major thing to address IMO. And like I was talking to you before - possibly put a hydraulic roller cam in place of the big nasty solid roller.... some improved low speed torque and drivability would be kinda nice. But.... maybe after awhile an LS/T56 swap could be in my future....

Renner and his pro street, I mean, pro touring 69 with 24's? Does he use the line lock when he takes off for his auto-x runs?

Easy. In my street racer I have a 271 / 279 @ .050 in my 6" rod 404CI and I always shift it at 6800 on and it goes out the back door at 125MPH at 6400 RPMs on motor passes and it goes out the back door at 7400 on nitrous passes and it never lays down.

You have a much better stroke / bore ratio for RPMs and I ASSUME it is a 6" rod motor which would make the rod ratio killer to. I would bet 6800 to 7000 is a good shift point for you.

Yeah thats screamin. Im not sure yet what the rod length is.. I got 3 big envelopes of receipts and paperwork I still need to go through that came with the car.

But yesterday I just wanted to get the car home safely. I'll rev that sucker up here soon and see how it goes. It does have a high rev kit on it I believe. We'll know soon enough.

Congrats Dave!!! Im so stoked you got it. Where gonna have to get together soon for sure. Still gonna try and hit the strip with us on Oct 16th?? I hope so! Sucker should flat rip!

I totally agree about the cam......thats a big ol sucker for a nice street car. Something in the 240 ish at .050 would be alot more street friendly and still run super hard.

Thank you Ron. Yes definitely.. been wanting to check out your car too. Will have to see on the drag day on the 16th... would like to come.

Yeah I think the cam is matched well for the motor but not so much for street driving and cruising. The cam is Vertigo was around 240/250 @ .050 and it was pretty easy to cruise I thought.
