Default 69 Camaro Anvil CF hood + RB hinges = ? lb springs

Guys,

Looking for advice here, 69 Camaro with the Anvil CF cowl induction hood, no middle understructure (parameter style). Add Ring Brothers air frame hood hinges. Does anyone know what pound springs/struts to run with this setup? Neither Anvil or RB knows exactly. RB best guess is 40 or 60#.

Thanks in advance, Ron

Hey Ron,

Man I cannot remember, with the same hood but it works great. 35# I think??

Get in touch with Eddie Motorsports and ask them what their lightweight struts are rated at.

Good luck,

Thanks Ron, will do. If you have the RB hinges could you look for a part number on the shocks? It's a stretch, but I might be able to cross reference in McMaster Carr.

Thanks spode, do you happen to know the # rating? I have 150GS 17014 from RB and those are 150# for fiberglass hoods (way too much for the Anvil hood).

Sorry, i don't know the rating. They came on the ringbros air frame for a fiberglass hood. I also have the Anvil CF hood without the inner structure. They were a little stiff but not bad. If you are in So Cal you can try them first. I'm in Orange Country. Just send me a PM if you want to try them

Thanks for the offer, I'm on the east coast. Sounds like you've got the 150# springs too. I'm surprised they work OK. Maybe someone can chime in if they've used lighter springs.
