I got in touch with GM today they told me to get a Metri pack 150 4 pin connector and put the wire from my harness in the B slot and plug it in . He said that's all it needs. When I told him the story about the Alt and plug difference he put me on hold and when he came back that was his reply. He sent me an e mail with a schematic and picture of the connector and told me to ignore the schematic.

I'll try to post it tomorrow.

I think you will be better off using the alternator you have and wiring in the appropriate plug. Holley sells one if you are unsure what plug to get.

Don,

I am just trying to wrap my head around this...and maybe follow GM logic...So the harness has a 2 pin connector, but are you saying that the ECU is not set up for PWM alternator control?

Why would they install the 2 pin connector?

The two pin connector only has one terminal in it which they said, put it in the B slot and plug it in were his exact words.

So it sounds like GM messed up the connector and really should have installed the older style 4 pin connector. My GMPP kit that I got back in 2008 has a 4 pin connector but only one wire is in it (B slot...L terminal).

You may be able to remove the terminal from the 2 pin connector and slide it into the 4 pin connector that you get from Holley. Those Metripack 150 connectors (assuming the 2 pin is also a MP 150) should use the same terminals.

That's what I was going to do, but it's about 2' too long so I'll shorten it to clean it up. I guess they make it that long in case your using the lower alternator location. Mine is on top.
Here's the number for GM power train and Performance 866 453412

Wayne,

I am pretty sure that I have the terminals for the 4 pin plug. I know I used some to add a wire to that connector on the S terminal. If you want, I can send you a few of the terminals...provided you have the right crimping tool.
