Default Unobtrusive shift light

I would like to mount a shift light behind my TA bezel somewhere so that it ties to the MSD 6AL2 box but appears as just a small light in the dash. Below is a picture of my bezel gauge setup.
I'm going to drill three small holes to install DSE's LED lights to use as turn signal and high beam indicator. I could add another for a shift light if the LED will function that way straight from the MSD box.

Has anyone set something like this up. Doing a "shift light" search on the forms ends up with mostly shifter related threads.

I have bought a couple of these, one for a bike and one for my mustang. Not quite as stealthy as your looking for but completely progammable so you don't have to look at bright LEDs while your cruising but they let you know when you need to know. great customer service too.

I think it would look totally badass to install some extra lights in the speedometer or rpm gauge that are very bright. For example So the gauges look normal white but when your suppose the shift the other red lights over power the white lights and turn the gauge red

I put something like that in my bird. Used an MSD RPM activated switch and a stand alone shift light. Disassembled the shift light and put the LEDs in the stock tach where the original clock was. In pic below you can see the RPM switch mounted on the trans tunnel looking through the steering wheel. I can change the pills in the switch to change the shift RPM.

I love this idea too. I spoke to the folks at New Vintage about a custom shift light built into the face of the gauges. They can do this in their custom gauge shop. Im going to put an amber LED on the face of my tach. Will be built with an adjustable driver unit to change shift RPM as desired. Mine is a 70 Camaro but should be a similar setup for your Bird. Good luck. Would love to see some more photos as you build it.

Here's another option too from Daytona Sensors. Plus you get the added benefit of data logging.
