Default 383 Scat crank and Eagle rods

The local CL has a guy selling both a Scat forged 4340 stroker crank and 4340 Eagle 5.7 eagle rods. I'm trying to verify that these parts will work in my LT1. The crank I'm finding is listed as a SBC 1 piece rear main. This should work in my LT1 I believe but I can't find a listing saying it will. The rods I'm actually having a hard time matching the part number exactly. I'm also finding very similar rod number saying they are for 2 piece rear main seal engines. Can anyone clear this up for me and verify if the parts will work in my LT1?

Part # off the boxes
Scat 435050L
Eagle CRS5700S

Thanks

Trey, the one piece rear main seal cranks are the same dimensionally speaking, but will vary on bob weight requirements. Not a problem, if you have a engine shop with a good balancing program. So, yes, it will work. As far as the rods go, I'd buy a new set, if I were you. They are cheap enough to just purchase new. You really have no idea what these rods were in, and in what rpm range they saw. I'm always Leary of buying used rods. Ask that guy if you can get the crank magnafluxed before you pay him for it, just to be sure it's not cracked. Have a shop check the bearing surface dimensions, and runout also, to cover yourself.
I saw these the other day, and if the crank checks out, it's a pretty good deal.

He's claiming everything is new, and from the pictures, they appear to be new. The crank is in the box with the wrapping and the rods are in their box still in the bag. Even has assembly lube in the box with the rods. If everything will work, I'm seriously considering buying them plus the 4 bolt block he has. I figure I can sell the block easily for $150. Even if the block is bad and I "pay" for it, I'd be getting the crank and rods for only a little more than just buying the crank from Summit tomorrow. So, yeah, it's a good deal in my opinion if the parts will work.

Thanks, Scott.

Found out that the crank does indeed work with the LT1. Also, that's an old part number for the rods as they are old rods. Look to be from back before the internet was big actually. No worries. Metal doesn't go bad when stored properly. They are indeed new, never installed and are 4340 forged. The Eagle rep said they have been replaced by part number CRS5700S3D.

Now I just need to find someone that wants this 350 4 bolt main roller cam block.

That's great to hear Trey. I am cautious in the area of engine parts for sale on there. Someone's depiction of "new" and my depiction of "new" can at times have a variance, if you know what I mean. You got yourself a great deal there, for sure. I'll tell some race buddies of mine about your block. What kind of shape is it in? Standard bore, etc?

I need to measure the bore and see if it is indeed standard as he claimed. He said he got it out of a 2500 chevy. So far, that checks out based on the stamping number. The block is cleaned but has some minor rusting. Nothing the rebuild won't take care of. He also said it was magnafluxed and checked out fine too. I'll get some pictures and double check the bore size soon.

I'm happy I got the crank and rods. Now, I just need to find pistons but I'm doubting I'll find what I need. You're right though, CL can be weird. The seller told me he had brand new Edelbrock heads as well that would fit LT1s, L98s, and Vortec 350s. I didn't bother to correct him. Buyer beware and always do your homework before buying off CL.

What are you looking for, piston wise? I have a couple sets in the shop.

Piston wise, I'm not sure honestly. Obviously, I need pistons that will work with a stroker crank and 5.7 rods. I'm just not sure what valve relief I need since I haven't even talked with a machine shop or Advanced Induction about heads yet. Ai has some piston info on their website but I want specifics and I'm no where near that point yet.

The block is 4.030 bore so it has been bored out. Casting number is 14093638. I figure I'll just ask $150 for the block if that's not unreasonable. I'll stand behind it too if it turns out to be no good. I haven't found anything that tells me it is not good.

Thanks Scott
