DSE engine mount help!!

Bare with me as I'm new to working on cars by myself and learning along the way.

I went to install the engine plates onto my ls3 this morning and ran into a problem. The passenger side went on no problem but when I tried to put on the drivers side plate it interferes with the oil cooler hole you see in the pic. (At least I think thats what it is.) I can't call DSE because they're closed on the weekends but want to see what other people have done. Can I just remove that nut?

On a side note, what are you guys doing for an oil cooler? Do I need one? Can I just plug the holes? I'm running a Mast oil pan.

If you want to use a cooler I'd use the fittings in the mast pan and for plugs I think you need this Gm number 12561663.

Also that doesn't solve my main issue which is not being able to mount the engine plate to the block because of the outlet being in the way. Can I remove it and plug?

I believe the ls3 i just had built is plugged there. I believe that location is coolant for an oil cooler. I dont see a problem in plugging it.

The gm number I gave you I think is the correct number for the plug you would need but do some checking.

That fitting is for coolant, you can plug it with this http://www.improvedracing.com/coolin...663-p-344.html. If you plan to take the car on a road course then you need an oil cooler. I would also recommend that you put a thermostat inline with the oil cooler lines so the oil will warm up quicker such as this one http://www.improvedracing.com/thermo...85f-p-212.html.

Just for what it's worth.......GM has a sealant/thread locking compound on that fitting..........chances are that you will have some thread damage after removing that plug....(ask me how I know.....LOL).....It is a special Metric thread.......I had a Tap made for that thread.........If you need it let me know and I will send it to you to clean out the threads...........Just return it when done as it seems to make the rounds to help everyone out.......

Thanks for the offer. I actually found a tool in the plumbing section of Home Depot that worked great. Pulled it out no problem and the new one twisted right in!

Yeah, that plug is not on all LS engine, especially my LS6. Remove it and plug it up.
