Anybody got any ideas on how to reinforce upper crossmember?
Check out page 2 and 3 of my build thread, link is in my sig. Lots of chassis pictures. I've tried to post pics, but the site won't let me without resizing, and I have no clue how to do that.
I built a new rear shock crossmember, and I diagonally braced it to the factory crossmember, thus adding strength to both my new crossmember, and the factory one. I "coped" all of my tubing into my frame, meaning I used a hole saw to cut a hole into the frame, so that I'm not simply relying on just a weld to hold this all together.
Realize that what restricts us on these cars from running a big tire in the rear, is the factory lower shock mounts, at the axle housing. The rear shocks point out toward the tire at a steep angle, and end up close to the sidewall of the tire. You have to change this. Move the lower mounting point inward on the axle a good piece. This is why I totally redisgned my rear shock mounts. I needed the correct shock angles, and wanted to run a wide tire at the same time. Not sure about your wheel wells, but the 68-72 cars have over 14" of tire room, from the fender trim over to the inner wheel well. I would think that yours is close to that, and now with your frame mods, and your inner wheel house modded, you will have enough room for a lot more tire than me.
Keep up the nice work!

Havent been any progress on the car in a while.
Bought an old squarebody truck that is taking some time to get running.

Got some work done today on the motor though.
Built a TDC pointer and installed the last head.
Pushrods are measured and ordered.

Loving the car so far but what are the specs on the car when you started, suspension and tire size?

Oh Im sorry. I have missed your question.
It was stock suspension with cut springs.
18/20" rims staggered. 275 in the rear, 235 in the front. Dont recall BS though.

Well, it has been some progress.
Been real busy at work plus the dragracing season has started now.

I have ordered the speedtech tracktime kit for the car with chicane coilover conversion to the front. Plus forged spindles.
It should arrive here in Sweden in 5-6 weeks.

Sold My Holley Dominator EFI and bought a Fueltech FT500, My local tuner works alot on these so It made sense. Plus I like the concept with ECU and dash incorporated.

I have cut out one tub, but cut a little too much so had to make some repairs.

Well, here are some pictures.

Long time no see 😁

Sprayed with Raptor-Liner

Seam-welding the frame completely.

Testfitted the frame with alu bodymounts, fits good.

Will build a new rear crossmember with a trailer hitch.

I have also ordered Baer brakes 14” with 6 piston calipers around.
Moser alu thirdmember with 4:11 and wavetrack differential.
Ron Davis radiator.

Hoping to receive suspensionparts before christmas vacation so I can finish frame modifications.

Will be better to update if someone is interested 😁
