Default Project: Resale Red

Project: Resale Red
As delivered:
1967 Camaro (V8 Base)
Engine: LS1
Trans: 4L60E
Rearend: 10 bolt
Exterior Color: Resale Red Special
Interior Color: Nantucket Blue
Suspension: Factory
Brakes: Disc

Plans:
Engine: Rebuilt LS1 (short term)
Trans: Century HD 4L60E with 3000 stall
Rearend: 12 bolt
Exterior color: Cyber Gray
Interior color: Cyber Gray/Black
Suspension: CPP Upper and Lower Control arms, QA1 coilovers, CPP Spindles with C5 Hubs, Hotchkis multi-leafs (-1.5 drop) in the rear
Brakes: CPP C5 Brake conversion F/R

Teardown is finally complete on the car. It’s headed to the body shop to begin repairing all the body panels, prep, and paint. The drip rails will be shaved and the seam between the rear quarters and the filler panel will be welded for a nice clean look.
Im using the factory subframe. I sent it off to Precision Powdercoat in Houston and they gave it a nice satin black finish. I highly recommend these guys for powdercoat work.

Before:

After:

My son and I built a body cart, and it was a nice father/son project. Little over $100 invested and it works like a charm.

Here are some teardown pics:

I’ll add pics as I go.

Thanks.

Resale Red actually came from a buddy of mine. He came over to check out the car, after I purchased it, and the first words out of his mouth were "Resale Red". He didn't mean it in an insulting manner at first but as we evaluated the car more, it lived up to that name.

I do not want this thread to focus on the past as I've forgiven the previous owner for what he did.

I'm open to all ideas for this build, so feel free to express your opinion on things. My goal is to have this car road worthy by next fall.

Hey Jason,

Glad to see you are going forward with the car and with what looks like a lot of gusto. I hope it turns out well for you. I hope that I have (a) a son and (b) a son who wants to help me restore cars!

Good luck!

Anyone have a good source for a 12-bolt rearend? I'm looking for something complete but want to keep cost in check.

Don't laugh but have you thought about a Ford 8.8? There are several articles (Hot Rod/Car Craft) that compared Ford 8.8 to GM 12-bolt, and they said the Ford is almost equivalent in strength, and cheaper to find/build. I have an 8.8 disc brakes out of a 2001 Mustang GT you can have (n/c), if you want it.

Is it a direct bolt-in?

I really appreciate the offer.
