Default Dupont Chromabase paint

I have a car I am painting with dupont Chromabase paint and I am currently putting stripes on the car. The person painting the car used 3m tape that left tape residue on the base coat. Does anyone know how to remove it before the clear coat goes on? He wants to use an adhesive remover but I was not sure about this option.
Thanks,
Jon

Did it actually leave a sticky residue or just change the texture of the finish? And what color is the base?

The base coat color is fire red metallic ford code G2 and it is sticky where the 3m blue tape came off.

Never tape directly to metallic. It will disturb the spray pattern and will be noticeable once cleared. Best thing at this point is to use adhesive remover to remove the sticky, re-base it, then use a blender clear to tape to or clear it and tape to the clear., then reclear after striping.
