Default Texas Goat - 1965 GTO

After 6 years of hibernation in the garage, the Texas Goat is returning to the modern world, hopefully.

This is my 1st attempt at documenting a build, so hopefully it will be ok. I like reading the others and thought I would attempt it. Car is an original tri power, munci, red with black interior. I am "supposedly" the 4th owner, and prior to my kids being born and funds cut off, it was a daily driver. The car even moonlighted as a lawn service vehicle, I put the mower, weedeater and blower in the trunk and made some money! I have 3 kids with the oldest being 8 and youngest 2.... so hopefully the project will not stall:old: I am expecting to run out of money before I can afford paint, so there might be a part II after the motor and suspension are done. This will be updated on a Pontiac forum as well, that way I have all the bases covered... what I did not post over there is that the car will have full air ride, big brakes, etc... I did not want to scare off the GTO purists before the build got underway

My only questions so far, has anyone ever seen a Lavender fender on a GTO?

Welcome to a fellow Texan and GTO builder. I think that lavendar color is officially called "iris mist". It is a relatively rare color.

What are your plans for drivetrain? Keeping it Poncho powered?

What's the current combination?

Love Pontiac builds!! Subscribed!

Yep, now it has the matching # 389 which is going on the floor by the muncie, I am building a 455 (at Westside Machine in Houston) with E-heads and a Butler cam. Transmission will stay a Turbo 400 for now, I have a 200r4 but am considering a gear vendors overdrive one day also.

Well, the weather did not cooperate for my plans so I ended up getting the front brakes ready and cleaning more stuff out from the interior. The spindles were ebay specials and I guess I forgot to take a pic before we cut them. This is a dirty car!

Here are some pics where my buddy works

Welcome! I lived in Katy a while myself, not far from the Katy Mills Mall. Loved it there. I'm also doing full air-ride, I think you'll be happy with it, from what I've read anyway. Mine is forever from being on the road. Looking forward to your build.
